WHAT'S HAPPENING IN CRAIG'S WORLD - AUGUST 2016

BIG NEWS this month is that Tyrepower has extended its involvement with Supercar racing and our national championship.

As you’ll no doubt read elsewhere, Tyrepower has become the ‘Official Tyre retailer’ of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship until the end of 2018, a big commitment and much appreciated by everyone in the sport.

It means you’ll see Tyrepower signage trackside at every event, not just at the iconic Cutting corner at Bathurst’s legendary Mt Panorama track, plus a whole host of opportunities to further promote the Tyrepower brand.

As a Tyrepower brand ambassador I am delighted that the company has seen fit to further involve itself in the sport that I love.

Tyrepower’s increased partnership with Supercars is a great fit and will provide an effective platform to communicate the expertise and value for money offered by the stores, to the sport’s huge fanbase.

Supercar fans are loyal, research will tell you that they support the companies that support their sport, so I look forward to seeing many more Supercar fans in Tyrepower’s stores.

BATHURST is just around the corner, and the build-up has already begun.

Many of you will know that the great Peter Brock was my friend and mentor, and this year’s race will mark 10 years since his passing.

Peter and I were close as both a driver and as people, and his death in a road rally in West Australia was a tough time for me personally.

Back then, Peter’s passing (in early September 2006) was marked a month later at Bathurst with a commemorative service and a special display of his cars; indeed I got to do a parade lap of Mt Panorama on race morning in Peter’s Bathurst-winning Holden Torana XU-1 from 1972.

I remember thinking (at the time) that the perfect way to honour Peter would be to be the first driver to put his name on the new ‘Peter Brock Trophy’, which was first presented in 2006 to the Bathurst winner.
